News letter – 3 September 2015

3 September 2015

Dear Parents / Guardians

A serious matter has come to our attention.  A new “game” called Charlie Charlie is taking hold in schools, including Parkrand Primary School.

This “game” uses either 2 or 4 pencils and relies on a supernatural force called Charlie to answer yes or no questions.  The premise of the game is similar to that of an Ouija board but with supplies that are readily available to all the learners.

At Parkrand Primary School we operate a religious ethos and will not under any circumstances entertain anything such as Charlie Charlie.  Whether or not you believe in the supernatural, the psychological implications on such actions on children have serious consequences.  There have been reports of suicide as a result of the ‘game’.

If your child is found partaking in this activity, your child will be removed from class and you will be contacted to collect your child immediately.  Your child will then face suspension followed by a Disciplinary Hearing.

Please, please, please discuss this issue with your children.  This is not a matter to be taken lightly from a spiritual or psychological perspective.

Learners are also wanting to play or talking of games such as ‘Candy Man’ and ‘Chucky Chuck’.

Learners have related that information of such games are also coming through via ‘Whatsapp’ and the ‘Internet’.

Yours faithfully

Mr Schunke
